MEET MIKE BRODIE

In 2003, aged 18, Brodie left home to go freighthopping across the USA. A friend gave him a camera and he subsequently spent three years photographing people he encountered, largely train-hoppers, vagabonds, squatters and hobos.

Brodie has now produced two bodies of work from this experience, Tones of Dirt and Bone and A Period of Juvenile Prosperity, which have been exhibited in galleries and become books.

A DAY AT THE NATRAL BRIDGE

The Springbrook National Park is a protectednational park that is located in the Gold Coast hinterland of Queensland, Australia. The 6,197-hectare (15,310-acre) park is situated on the McPherson Range, near Springbrook

The Natural Bridge is a naturally formed rock arch over Cave Creek, a tributary of the Nerang River. It was formed from a waterfall which undercut a cave beneath the waterfall and dug a pothole on top, until the two joined and the creek flowed through the cave, leaving an arch across the front.

On the way home we were stopped by the look of these run down ruins which were at the entry of a long driveway. We weren't sure what they were for but it didn't matter.
As we were walking back to the car we heard music, drums and singing behind the tree line... Loui and I stopped in our tracks as we looked at each other with a blank face.. we still have no idea what was going on but it felt pretty eerie.

Holly Derrick and I have known each other since we were 15.
Holly is now 20 and has been on and off living the life of a Bollywood star in India.

Her pictures from her moments in India capture more emotion than any words could ever explain.
